Sustainability
Better world statistics
The four Rs – Rethink, Reuse, Reduce and Recycle are a lifestyle for a sustainable future. Ideally all resources are used effectively and in a cyclical way (as opposed to a linear way). In order for the C2C system to be sustainable, all materials in products need to be kept clean and should not be mixed. Our True® pleated fabrics are a great example of upcycling oil-based plastics.
Post-consumer PET
PET is used as a raw material for making packaging materials such as bottles and containers for packaging a wide range of food products and other consumer goods. Luckily PET is highly recyclable. When empty PET packaging is discarded by consumers after use, it becomes PET waste. When PET is reused to make new products, this is referred to as post-consumer PET.
CO2 emissions
By using recycled yarns as basis, instead of virgin oil-based plastics, less fossil fuels need to be burned and less CO2 is emitted. Reducing carbon emissions will decrease air pollution and global warming allowing a good future for the generations to come.
kWh savings
By replacing (virgin) raw material with recycled material, energy is saved. This calculation (performed by independent certification bodies) is based on a life-cycle assessment (LCA) approach. For the pleated fabrics, Remokey used the ‘Modint Ecotool’ software, developed by CE Delft, based on generally accepted LCA databases, international studies, literature and company data.

Energy savings per fabric:
The calculations for energy savings in the first table, are based on the fabric weight of the final product with measurements 120 cm x 170 cm. These measurements are based on the average product measurements mostly used in the Benelux/Scandinavia. In this table you can find the energy savings of recycled PET bottles (1,5 l), CO2 and kWh.
